David D. Swartling

Retired Founder

Dave Swartling joined what became Mills Meyers Swartling in 1992, and since then he has litigated in state and federal court significant cases involving product liability, municipal and commercial law, professional negligence, and aviation. He is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. In addition, he has received awards from the Washington State Bar Association and the American Bar Association for his long-time efforts in teaching litigation and improving the system of justice in Washington. In 2007, Dave was elected as Secretary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, a full-time position that resulted in his relocation to the denomination’s headquarters office in Chicago. Dave returned to his law practice as Counsel to the firm in 2014.

    • For more than 25 years, Dave Swartling has litigated significant cases involving product liability, municipal and commercial law, professional negligence, and aviation in state and federal court. Recognized by his peers as one of the best litigators in Washington, Dave has been inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers.
