Rachael R. Wallace

Associate

Rachael’s civil litigation practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, aviation law, product liability, class action defense, and employment disputes. Rachael joined Mills Meyers Swartling in 2017 after two years of private practice with a large, national law firm.

Rachael is experienced in litigating tort and contract claims involving the Air Carrier Access Act, the Airline Deregulation Act, Federal Aviation Regulations, the Montreal Convention, and various product liability and consumer protection statutes.

In addition to state and federal discrimination claims, Rachael’s practice includes advising on and litigating Seattle’s Paid Sick and Safe Time ordinance and Washington’s Paid Sick Leave law, including accrual rates, variable rates of pay, exemptions, policy language, permitted uses, notice requirements, and matters involving compliance.

Rachael is on the board of the Northwest Aviation Insurance Association. Rachael also served on the board of the King County Bar Association Aviation Section from 2016 to 2018, most recently as the board’s chair. She regularly authors articles on aviation regulatory and litigation issues.

Rachael earned her law degree from University of Washington School of Law, where she was the managing articles editor of the Washington Journal of Law, Technology & Arts and president of the Student Bar Association. She externed for the Honorable Marsha J. Pechman, chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. In 2013, the National Association of Women Judges awarded Rachael the Equal Access to Justice Award.
